Allaah has commanded us to call upon Him, and promised to answer our prayers, when He (Subhaanahu Wata'aalaa) says:
" And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad – Sallallaahu 'Alayhi Wasallam ) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.."
[Suurah 2:186].
Unfortunately, many Muslims were engaging in Bid'ah prayers while calling upon Allaah, and thereby disobeying Allaah even in their praying to Allaah (Subhaanahu Wata'aalaa). This is because Allaah has commanded the Muslims to avoid Bid'ah in all aspects of their religion by making the Prophet (Sallallaahu 'Alayhi Wasallam) their exemplary in their acts of worship, when He (Subhaanahu Wata'aalaa) says :
" Indeed in the Messenger of Allaah (Muhammad - Sallallaahu 'Alayhi Wasallam) you have a good example to follow, for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allaah and the Last Day and remembers Allaah much."

“Whoever performs a deed (seeming worship) which we have not ordered (anyone, neither in the Holy Qur’aan nor in any authentic Hadeeth) to do (or a seeming-worship-deed which picture or establishment or appearance, goes in one way or the other against the authentic written manner of the Prophet (Sallallaahu 'Alayhi Wasallam) in performing worship), then that deed will be rejected and will not be accepted (as worship by Allaah).”
